Tanya Allison was always drawn to animals as a young girl, especially dogs. Tanya grew up in Toronto and would walk dogs in her neighbourhood as she was never allowed one of her own! While attending McMaster University for Psychology, she finally had the chance to get a dog and rescued a 8 week old Rottweiler/Husky puppy and named him Liam. Having a big and powerful breed like Liam really encouraged Tanya to learn more about dog behaviour and training. Tanya was constantly training her new puppy Liam and always knew that she wanted to train dogs in the future, while helping other pet owners understand their dog better. Tanya became a Service Dog Trainer for COPE Service Dogs, completing the 2 year training apprenticeship. During this time she raised a puppy named Granite who was in training to become a Service Dog. Unfortunately Granite was diagnosed with Hip Dysplasia, therefore disqualifying him from becoming a Service Dog. Tanya continued his training and Granite learned all of the tasks a Service Dog needs to know and he became the official Demo Dog for COPE. Tanya has extensive dog behaviour knowledge and years of experience working and training with dogs of all ages, sizes and breeds. Tanya has also gained valuable experience working at both Pet Valu and PetSmart in the Doggy Day Care.
